Buying a cycle

The perfect way to commute around your town.

Since the invention of the cycle it has remained one of the most popular means of transport. Available for all ages it has proved to be an excellent way to keep fit and to give the rider a sense of freedom.

Road bikes are well designed and are the most popular for people who want more than a means of getting from A to B . Most of the top manufacturers are available, You can also expect to pay a lot more

But, if you are looking for a lightweight, fast and aerodynamic bike then this is the no1 choice. One thing that you could do is buy direct from the manufacturer if you are looking to keep the cost down. Prices range from £600 - £6000.

Mountain Bikes are designed for off road use , like in the country. Its still a popular choice for a lot of people, as they are strong, reliable and have lots of gears. They are normally fitted with wide tires but after you have worn them out you can always buy some road tires. Therefore making your life easier when riding.. I personally prefer the mountain bike type of cycle as I like to ride in an upright position, unlike the road bikes which require you to ride in a dropped down position because of the handle bars. Prices £450- £2000

Folding Bikes are also very popular with anyone commuting into

Any major city. As they fold up into a small space they can be easily carried from a commuter train and unfolded ready for use very quickly. Thus eliminating waiting for that bus. The range has also

Improved greatly and there is an excellent choice of bikes in this category. Prices £200= £500

Hybrid Bikes are another popular bike with commuters. Not quite as heavy as a mountain bike ,but heavier than a road bike they would normally be ridden in the upright position, they would probably be fitted with road tyres, and lots gears. Some makers also include mudguards, lights, pump etc. prices £400-£1000

Electric Bikes have been becoming more popular probably with the older generation. As this bike requires charging it is not suitable for commuting or for long distances. It is a fun bike to ride though. prices vary but £600 - £1000 should cover you.

Cargo bikes are a strong reliable bike. They would normally come with the cogs and chain enclosed. Some are fitted with a shopping bag at the front. Also a dynamo lighting system thus making these bikes a good choice for in town use, normally only built for an adult to use. Prices £330-£700 depending on the make and model.
